Time’s a Wasting

Day 9 of writing every day. 2nd entry

I finally finished working 11 am – 8pm, returning on Wednesday after taking Monday and Tuesday off.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t already sick of being in the office right off the bat.

The day started off as always with me booting up the computer and logging in. I checked to see what I’d been assigned, and surprisingly there was nothing lined up. After a while, I was assigned something small to check, but it’d only take half a day at most if things went smoothly.

Nothing involved language, which was what I hoped to use when I signed on for the position at the company I’m at. So I went and performed visual checks a kid who can read basic instructions can do.

Lunch came and went. What should be 1 hour long is broken down instead into a 45 minute lunch and a 15 minute early evening break. Some might think it a good idea but all I see is a rushed lunch and a break hardly long enough to make it to the break room to settle down and relax before rushing back to the work room.

There was barely anything to do past 6pm and I honestly wanted to get out of there instead of sitting another 2 hours trying to look busy while forbidden from doing anything that might improve my skill set or help keep me alert.

By the time I get on the train home, I’m hungry, feeling depressed at a day wasted, and tired from starting the day later than most everyone else in the office.

Well it’s not that long before the weekend and the end of the year. I’m gonna pull through, but there’s no fast forwarding through the drudgery it all unfortunately.

It’s a downer reading this perhaps, but maybe it’ll serve as a warning to others that things could be worse, or show how tough some of you might be if you’re dealing with something even worse. I make no claim to be suffering more than anyone else, just that I don’t like and want to get out of where I am presently.

Thanks for reading!
