Christmas Day 2022

Day 13 of writing every day.

I had a family video call a little past noon Japan time with family in Seattle who had just returned from a winter vacation road trip.

The Christmas cheer in the air might be lifting my spirits up or it might just be the knowledge that I’ll be getting a few days off work once the calendar hits New years break on the Japanese work schedule.

I went out for a little food shopping and saw that the Christmas rush is still ongoing. People are still out getting cake and fast food restaurants are trying to sell as many boxes of fried chicken as they can.

Come tomorrow it’ll just be all in the past once again and the mood will immediately switch from festive to chill.

Since New years means Japan goes on break for close to a week while most of the world continues as normal after a noisy ringing in of the new year, some industries are quite busy trying to get things done to minimize interruptions in the overall flow of things. Others can’t get much done because of the incoming break, meaning things slow down and workers are urged to use paid leave.

I’m just glad to know I’ll finally have some time. Next though is to spend that time wisely.

Thanks for reading! Happy holidays!
