Start Of The Week Feb. 20

Day 71 of writing every day.

Morning

It’s Monday and the start of another workweek. Fortunately this Thursday is the current Emperor’s birthday. That makes it a national holiday in Japan and I get the day off. I have things planned that day though, and won’t be sleeping in or anything.

I’m not worried about the near future right now. There’s nothing to be gained from simply worrying about the unknown. When I get to work, I may or may not have a reply to the message I sent declaring my having no intention of renewing my contract and being subjected to the ridiculous work hours getting underpaid. And frankly, I probably won’t even bother responding to it right away if there is since I’ll be a good worker working on my tasks.

Night

As expected, there was a message asking me for a reason as to why I responded no to renewing the contract for my job. The lack of empathy I was given all this time suddenly turned into something that acted like it cared about how I feel at work. I already gave my response and had a busy schedule lined up. I didn’t bother wasting another breath on the matter.

It was in the afternoon that I got the message indirectly from someone else asking me to please reply, and I went and replied when there was a brief respite. Of course, I didn’t waste my time communicating with someone who ignored my request regarding work hours and basically told me to suck it up politely because I signed a contract and that meant I consented to being at their beck and call.

I replied honestly that I was too busy with work for some kind of call that day and I’d check in when I have time.

It seriously feels so liberating when you feel like you have nothing to lose and are leaving a job you can’t wait to leave. I expect I’ll get prodded on providing an explanation, so I’ll give them one. Of course, it’ll be one I prepare at my own convenience. They reap what they sowed. I’ve treated everyone with more courtesy and decency than they’ve ever shown me, so they should feel lucky after forcing me to waste so much of my private time for them, I’m only inconveniencing them slightly for something that’s not even part of my job duty.

Thanks for reading!
