Day 89 of writing every day.
I sent in the resignation document that’s just part of the formality of leaving a job via email along with a physical letter via postage. Japan is really unrelenting on having paperwork stamped with a hanko, which carries more authority than a handwritten signature. It’s not really more than an intricately carved piece of wood though, and in some cases can be an enabler of identity theft or the give undue ability to control assets of family members.
In response to my sending out the document declaring my resignation, HR said they sent out documents I’ll have to fill out and send back to them back next Friday. I wonder why there’s such a rush, but I guess the period between the cutoff for the end and beginning of fiscal years may be the reason if anything.
As the assignment is still ongoing, my expectations are that I’ll be asked to leave notes behind to help whoever is the next chump to get thrown into a role that’s completely different from the job they signed up for. Sometimes there are positive things about unexpected changes; there’s none to be found in this role.
It’s Friday though and I hope it will be a good one as I reach the final stretch of my time on my job that turned sour last year. Have a good weekend everyone!
