Recovery

Day 102 of writing every day.

Today started off cloudy before the rain started to fall late in the morning. Unfortunately my allergies were acting up and I had to deal with the typical itchy eyes and runny nose. I didn’t have any Aikido practice last night but I felt pretty tired after an intensive day of studying JavaScript. A good night’s sleep was refreshing but I still felt groggy after 8 hours.

Although I felt better after the massage and bone-setting, the immediate effect might be that I was feeling slightly off as my body had gotten used to a new equilibrium that wasn’t doing my right foot and leg any favors. The blood flow felt good and the tensed up feeling went away for a while. It came back by night.

I know not to expect my body to heal after one adjustment. It took two months for my pinky toe to look less swollen, but there is still some leftover material or fluid that is yet to be removed. There is no magic spell of healing or sci-fi cure-all that instantly regenerates. This is just the body going through cellular division and the blood flow moving things around within the body.

The good part is that I felt a little sore today, which suggests that blood is flowing where flow was previously probably constricted. I don’t know if the osteopathic practitioner I decided to go get treated at is the best, but they’re certified and I’m confident that they’re qualified to help me improve.

Other than my pinky toe, I’ll need to give my brain a chance to recover every day and preferably between lessons so I don’t feel overwhelmed and am able to absorb as much as I can each session.

Thanks for reading!
