Day 103 of writing every day.
It’s Friday and although it’s been only one week off of work from a job I’m leaving, it feels like a lot more time has passed. My soon-to-be former coworkers probably imagine I’m just taking well-deserved time off to just chill and do nothing, but it’s been the exact opposite. I’ve not slept in at all this entire week nor the past weekend.
Every day I wake up in the morning like I’m going to work. I go take my programming lessons, get lunch, continue again in the afternoon, catch a break in the late afternoon/early evening, then go to Aikido practice. Afterwards I go home (maybe after a detour at the grocery store), do laundry, and shower. If I still have energy to do stuff, I might be on my computer and slowly unwind until I feel ready for bed.
To say the least, I haven’t been keeping track of the days. I’ve been focused on trying to understand the content of the lessons, and it’s a challenge thinking about all the effort needed to hone an entirely new skill and gain a perspective required to change to a job that requires a specific set of specialized skills. While coding has been touted as the hottest skill to have without requiring years of schooling, I think what gets left out is the headache of trying to understand all the concepts of coding and reaching the level where people are
To be honest, I’m probably better at doing things hands-on than interacting with software. It doesn’t mean I don’t think I have what it takes to become a developer, just that I’m not at my strongest even if I might perform better and stick with it longer than most who casually give coding a try and give up because it seemed too big a challenge.
Anyways I got exhausted after a full day, so I’m posting this late again. But I was glad to have squeezed in a haircut and head spa as well.
Thanks for reading!
