Day 130 of writing every day.
Although it’s been spring for a while, it’s been cool enough at night that I’ve had to wear long sleeves at night to be comfortable. Even during the day I’d be fine with jeans or pants. It actually felt hot today, so I decided to take out some shorts to go with my shirt. Things are warming up to a pleasant temperature that I think will be all day long.
Change Of Clothes
Unfortunately, such temperate days are few and it’s only a matter of time before summer weather hits. But enjoy the moment while it lasts. I’ll take the chance to reorganize my clothes as another opportunity to really do some room cleaning.
You don’t need to go to the horror levels of a hoarder’s house to feel the disruptive effects of clutter. It can be strange how in your own room, clutter doesn’t seem like a problem as it slowly builds up. I can’t even imagine going back to when I first moved in and there was so much less stuff in my room. But if someone comes into your room, what would they say?
Sure, everything you have in your room is supposed to have some use or value; that’s why you don’t just throw it in the trash. But there’s a point where an object’s worth could be considered negative in comparison to the amount of space it takes up. Items don’t have to be large for this to happen. The reason is that quantity is more often the issue than the size of individual items.
I’d prefer to just give away things I don’t plan on using anymore but that others might have a use for. I think I’ve been pretty good about not buying new clothes when I’ve still got plenty to wear for each season. Some people who want to keep up with fast fashion might purchase new clothes and toss out used ones, perhaps recycling them, every season, but I prefer to use money for other things.
If there’s anything I need to do right now, it’s making sure the clothes I have are stored neatly so that they’re not always lying around in a pile after I finish doing the laundry. I find that once I do get going with the chores, there is a natural focus that helps me stay on task.
Thanks for reading!
Amazing
I enjoyed reading your blog post about spring weather and reorganizing your clothes. It’s definitely a great feeling when the weather finally warms up and we can switch to our summer wardrobe. Your point about clutter really resonated with me, as it’s something I struggle with as well. My question is, do you have any tips for organizing clothes in a small space?
