Day 165 of writing every day.
In the world of job hunting, honesty seems to be a detracting quality based on common practices nowadays. At least that’s what I felt as I went over my resume with a career advisor.
In the corporate world, no one wants to hear your story. Just summarize it into a single page paper they can say yes or no to whether someone is worth interviewing in under 30 seconds. There’s no justice for anyone it seems and all your accomplishments and hardships have no weight when compared to your age, highest level of education received, and where plus how long you have worked.
I was quite amazed how much stuff I wrote could be whittled down to something much more easily read with just a glance. I guess if that’s all they care to read to decide if they want to find out more about me, then that’s just how the world is right now.
The whole hiring process just seems to contradict everything companies say about being heart to heart with people and valuing workers when as an applicant you’re nothing more than a number with a short description.
Well, I had enough of resume writing for one day and will be busy all weekend. I hope to finish looking at the job postings forwarded to me and ranking them based on what seems to best meet what I’m looking for.
Thanks for reading!
