Day 179 of writing every day.
Today I had a brief phone call with the recruiting manager for a company who tried calling me last night and later texted me to set up a time to have a brief talk about info they wanted to confirm regarding me and my application.
It felt typical in respect to asking about visa status and preferences that did not get touched on in a mere resume. Preferences are probably important in the sense that this posting was probably made by a dispatch service company. So much of the tech industry in Japan seems to be just dispatch companies outsourcing engineers and their services to clients either as on-site staff or as project by project support.
Companies seem to lack their own in-house engineers and lack any people well versed enough in technology especially when under the leadership of executives who continue to live and operate with the mindset of how business works from decades ago. Perhaps that’s why it feels like so many companies operating on the model of sending engineers out and about across the country without minimal regard to engineers’ quality of life.
By night I was informed by my online school career advisor that another company had invited me to an interview, and this one is a venture company I expressed interest in out of the postings shared with me.
I’ll try to keep an open mind and while I hope that every interview will lead to a job offer, I’m not going to be so naive to believe that. I’ll continue to keep an eye out as well as study.
