Day 191 of writing every day.
Going to work for 8 hours a day might take some getting used to, but studying for the same amount of time a day feels much harder. I’ll be logging my study progress for the time being instead of writing my thoughts as much for the time being
Morning:
I had my final osteopathic clinic appointment for the treatment based on my toe injury. It’s been a good three months that has made the swelling go away. I don’t think I’d have as much mobility as I do have currently were it not for the treatments. I attest to that because my foot and leg are feeling much better even when walking.
However, I didn’t get study time in since I went and got breakfast as well on the way back. I opted to game for about an hour to help calm my nerves. I feel more confident about my job hunting prospects though there’s nothing at this point I can do to increase my chances of getting a job besides to keep looking and applying.
To be honest, I felt pretty sleepy too, so my thoughts were to game a little and take a quick nap and focus in the afternoon when I’m feeling alert enough to absorb and retain knowledge. To my surprise, I was messaged by my career advisor that she’d applied to several postings on my stead and had two interview offers lined up for me.
I quickly replied to the messages and had the interviews scheduled. I felt comforted by the fact there were more interviews because interviews are a sign that companies want to get to know you and seriously consider you for their open position. Otherwise the hiring manager just gives your resume a glance and tosses you to the “No” pile and you get the notice sometime later regretting to inform you that they don’t want you.
Afternoon:
After the 15-minute brief nap, I went and got ready for a casual talk with a graduate of the online school I’m taking programming lessons with. He acts as a mentor of sorts to currently enrolled students who are looking for advice or just someone to talk to.
I felt better talking about the job hunting process and it was encouraging to see a positive reaction to my current job hunting progress. The only negative going on with my job hunt is really from a personal perspective pertaining to my visa status. From a Japanese perspective, being offered interviews so quickly is something of an accomplishment. Nevermind that I had a job offer that I declined because it didn’t feel good to me, or that the positions I applied to required no experience.
When that was over, I went and got a late lunch that ended up being too much in volume, so I regrettably left some food uneaten when I went to pay at the register. I went back and got some messaging done to finish following up the messages with my career advisor.
Night:
I studied some but found my room a bit distracting again, so I decided to spend a little time removing some clutter build up. I tried studying a little but my weekly lessons came up and I focused my attention on that when the time came. It’s comforting knowing that people support my job hunt and are rooting for my success.
Afterwards, I found out I’d been invited to interview for a job that I thought looked kind of nice and the company had a pretty good website that outshone many of the others I’ve browsed while searching for info on companies that I applied to.
It was a pretty good day I think.
