Taking The Job Hunt Slow

Day 202 of writing every day.

After digging around the internet, it seems I might not be in as big a danger regarding my visa status as I believed up to now. As long as I can prove I’ve been job hunting steadily and find a job, immigration is likely to overlook passing the deadline to be working. If anything, it’s a rule set up to prevent people from exploiting the system and just loaf around once in Japan. Even if you have the money to sustain yourself for a year without working, you’re not going to get permission to stay on a regular work visa.

While I’ve been applying and getting interviews, it feels like I should slow down mentally and focus on the moment instead of worrying if each interview will lead to a job or not. And if I do get a job offer, I prioritize if the company and the conditions matches what I believe will make a long lasting relationship. If they don’t, I’ll pass and keep looking a little longer.

I had been panicking about needing to find a job and pushing myself into a corner of my own making, but the last thing I want is to take another job because it’s the only thing I believed I could find. Time to focus on building my own life and career instead of just doing something to tide things over.

Thanks for reading!
