Day 212 of writing every day.
I followed through on my plans to take the IT Passport exam by making a reservation to take it two weeks from today this morning. While the website was simple enough to use, it seemed like it wasn’t using the latest and perhaps following the best practice standards I might expect to see for something that touts itself as a standard for information technology in Japan.
While the certification is backed by the state, it probably doesn’t have as much name recognition outside of the tech industry and probably only those considering a move to tech jobs are the ones that bother to give it a gander.
There aren’t really any restrictions and anyone can take it provided that they pay the 7500 yen fee and show up with the exam ticket plus photo ID at the testing site they signed up to take it at. I didn’t read all the small details but it seems the latest you can reserve a spot is five days prior to the exam date, so it’s good to sign up early a couple months in advance when the schedule first becomes available.
Fortunately, or rather unfortunately, I can take the exam on a weekday as the weekends at the nearest testing sites have already been fully reserved this month. It looks like my choices have narrowed themselves down and I might really have only one company that seems genuinely interested in taking me in.
Well, I just gotta keep pushing on.
Thanks for reading!
