Work Contract

Day 221 of writing every day.

I met with the company that planned on hiring at a pay-as-you-go rental office. While they do have a working office, the head told me it’s tiny and wouldn’t have been comfortable seating the four of us. He and two other people in sales were present for the meeting, so I got to see the face of the company I guess. The rest of the employees are probably off on their assigned projects elsewhere, so there never was a need for a roomy office as of yet.

As a startup, they don’t seem to have much capital, which is why they might have skimped on space and offered to start my contract late August. That way they don’t have to pay me to idle while they try to promote me to some company or project in need of extra hands. Having no experience hiring foreigners, I do have some concerns if they know the paperwork they need might have to go through that differs from hiring Japanese workers.

But all in all, there was nothing to feel suspicious about from my perspective, and I don’t have any reason to take them to be frauds trying to con me out of just personal info. However, there’s a number of documents I’ll need to make copies of that remind me of how much of a hassle it can feel like before even starting a job.

Thanks for reading!
