Day 225 of writing every day.
Yesterday and today is the Tenjin Matsuri festival in Osaka, which is finally returning to its pre-Covid scope. This means a lot of tourists coming out in their yukata light clothing for the summer to hype up the mood. Fireworks are supposedly the main attraction and the finishing act to two days of festivities.
There’s nothing to really celebrate though besides going through long arcades crowded with people and food stalls that get romanticized in anime. There’s nothing glamorous about being a jam-packed crowd in the sweaty summer heat and being forced to walk slowly to line up for pricey food on a stick or in whatever package they come in.
It feels like every year I have Aikido practice when it happens so it hasn’t really been anything that interests me. Only the rich or people who want to blow savings on a fleeting luxury go out of their way to enjoy the festivities by reserving pricey spots on boats to enjoy things on the river or from fancy restaurant rooftops and high buildings where the fireworks might be viewed clearly without being in the mosh pit that is the ground level along the river.
I also have the IT Passport exam tomorrow and will be getting in some last minute practice and review with the hopes of improving my chances of passing. Once that’s over with, I’ll focus on getting the paperwork in to officially become employed.
