Day 245 of writing every day.
In Japan, typhoons are not named but assigned numbers in the order they appear each year. The practice of hurricanes having names growing up in the US made me feel like the practice in Japan was quite different. But then what’s the point of naming a weather event? It doesn’t really make one hurricane or typhoon more recognizable to those who weren’t impacted some way or another by the event.
It’s the category of severity that makes something go down in history, and if so, simply mentioning the year might be more than enough to bring back memories of the event.
Anyways, I’m sitting tight for the most part since trains are unlikely to move and get closed in advance of forecasts predicting high-speed winds. Nothing major has happened yet today but the atmospheric pressure does feel like something heavy is nearby.
The typhoon won’t actually reach Osaka until tomorrow if it stays on the trajectory predicted by weather news sources.
My landlord had locked down the doors in advance and left only a side door unlocked this time. No reason to go out if nothing is going on either. Safety first I say.
