Day 248 of writing every day.
Today and tomorrow are my final days before I officially start my new job. Although I’m going to start working, I don’t have an assignment yet, as far as I know, so I’ll be on standby at home on reduced pay if I’m understanding how my employer works. That being said, I’ll need to make use of the time I have left that is still free.
Despite everything I’ve tried, I ended up squandering a lot of time on games and not being able to concentrate on studying. Clutter built up again and I believe the root cause is just owning too many things and holding on to them despite having zero use for a lot of things that have been just taking up space.
Anyways I’ll have to drop by city hall to inform them I’m starting my job on Monday and to take me off national health insurance as I’ll be switching to the provider that I’m getting through my employer. I’m probably going to mail it in since I don’t want to not have insurance over the weekend of anything. At the same time, I should be able to get them to reinstate me back into social security taxes getting deducted from paychecks instead of me paying them monthly manually or via enrolled monthly deductions straight from my bank account.
I’ll go to Hello Work first tomorrow though and get the trip to a neighboring city out of the way first. My new employer is having a social gathering tomorrow night and I’m going, so it’ll be a nice chance to meet a small fraction of the people who currently work for them. I wouldn’t say at the company since everyone except the boss and sales are either at home or at a project location.
Last but not least, I’ll go and mail in a form stating I changed employers to immigration. I don’t think I’d get a reply telling me I’m in trouble for finding a job beyond their deadline, but I don’t know what they’re thinking. They might bring it up when I have to renew my residence card in a couple months. I’ll likely request the paralegal I’ve been relying on for the last few years when I had to apply for things I wasn’t comfortable attempting by myself.
