Nesting Commands

Day 276 of writing every day.

A big part of coding that makes doing complicated calculations and calling up specific bits of data is the use of queries and functions. In order to make these detailed commands work, the code gets longer as targets and conditions get written out. With so much text, part of writing code is just laying it out correctly with proper line breaks and indentation to make it readable to other people.

The thing is, that making codes longer increases the chances of mistakes caused by human error. It’s easy enough to make typos in word documents, but working with code in text editors, the luxury of a spell checker oftentimes does not exist when working without any extensions inside command prompt. I can only imagine how hard it must have been to write code at the beginning before technologies had improved to include plugins that help programmers check their code.

All I can say is that learning to code might feel easy at the start and even though it does get progressively harder, there are points where it feels the difficulty of the material goes up exponentially.

I’ve had enough for today.
