Day 295 of writing every day.
Last week was chill in terms of not having any set deadlines and concrete benchmarks on what to get done by the end of a day. But a meeting with the client is coming up Thursday that the higher ups and leaders will be attending, so newbies like me have to start considering things with a more serious attitude and go beyond just thinking hard .
I asked chat-GPT some questions about login and navigation. The topic of splitting a database up as part of the recommendation was something that I felt would be important, so I decided to delve into that subject. The built-in Access tool is supposed to break up a database so it’s split smoothly between front and back ends with the users accessing the front end without admins worrying they’d access backend stuff because they’re stored in separate files and the risk of users touching something intentionally or by accident can potentially be greatly reduced.
Creating login credentials is not something Access has built in, so working around the absence of the feature requires a bit of thinking and asking around for ideas. chat-GPT provides helpful info but it’s still up to me to plan and tweak things so that it fits the designs being asked for. I also need to come up with questions for the people going that they can ask the client.
Anyways, the prototype looks to be done and the components seem to fit together fine, so there’s going to be time to get everyone on the same page about what the system is supposed to look like. By that I mean having a shared view of what each screen should look like and how the code connects one click of a button to another form or action, and deciding if something is needed or not, etc.
There’s going to be a lot of bumps along the road, but it’s part of the learning process I say.
Thanks for reading!
