Day 298 of writing every day.
After surviving two weeks of my first assignment as an SES engineer, I’m meeting up with family who happen to be traveling to Japan and are making a brief stop in Osaka.
About a year has gone by since I last met my mom when she stopped by Osaka for a leg of a trip to Japan. I’m grateful that my family takes these opportunities to provide me with things from the US. It was a brief meeting tonight but we had dinner and relaxed in their hotel room for a little before parting ways.
I’ve been following the news in the US and haven’t really heard anything good about the way things are progressing as a society given the social unrest and lack of equity where income levels are better balanced so that the extreme and growing gap between rich and poor is reduced and quality of life takes a turn for the better instead of for the worse.
It doesn’t really matter who the President is as long as the system is rigged to favor squeezing money out of the masses and sending it upwards to a small group of super rich people.
Japan doesn’t feel perfect for me but I feel less and less able to identify with the idea that America represents. I’m betting my future on a life in Japan rather than a return to my home country even more now after hearing of how prices are inflated and life just keeps getting more difficult for normal people.
