Aikido Seminar Oct 2023

Day 306 of writing every day.

It’s been a little over a month since the last seminar in early September. I’ve been so busy with work and regular practice that I feel like my life isn’t revolving around Aikido anymore. But that might be for the better since there’s more to life than simply practice and being exposed to other things can help me better understand the world.

Although I practice consistently and review the seminar materials regularly, it’s amazing how it seems like there’s an endless amount of training to master every little detail of body control and become more and more self aware. Some techniques might have been done before but revisiting them always seems to reveal something new as well.

Even though it’s October and temperatures have cooled down somewhat, it was still kinda sweaty tonight. Today’s seminar also seemed to go by pretty fast, which is nice as I didn’t feel like I needed to keep checking the clock to see how much more mental endurance I need to get to the end and write down notes.

The downside about having other things than Aikido to focus on is that I find myself being less able to retain information from seminars since I’m not reading Aikido materials on a regular basis and have to retune my mind to absorb information transmitted via touch, sense, and intuition as opposed to just things I can go back and replay or reread.

Thanks for reading!
