Day 308 of writing every day.
After a few weeks of showing up to work on an assignment that’s also hands-on training, I think the glow of having work to do is starting to wear off for some people. It’s not as exciting nor as tiring in a good way as when you take on a new job or role. When things become routine, it loses its shine and whether or not you enjoy it becomes an issue of if you really find satisfaction in what you do for work.
For me, it’s starting to feel a lot more challenging in terms of figuring out how to create a working search form in Microsoft Access. The issue of whether more attention should be given to Excel as well has kind of settled for the moment and it’s time to focus efforts on getting the things already planned out into working order. I think the fun comes when you finally figure out how something works and the rest of the time you’re just thinking and going over the code or posts trying to figure out what’s going wrong and what to do in your specific situation. Although chat-GPT and online solutions shared by others can help, they’re quite general and only set you in the right direction to start figuring out the answers yourself.
This type of work is extremely high energy in terms of the mental effort required to stay engaged and not give up. While it’s taken away time to focus solely on Aikido, I think the workout it’s giving my brain is helping my mind stay flexible and pliable even though I’m biologically past the most malleable age range neurologically.
