Day 322 of writing every day.
I didn’t get much sleep last night but I felt fine enough in the morning without too much grogginess. It might be a sign that I’m getting a lot better since coming down with whatever I caught. My throat is feeling a lot better too but there’s the occasional phlegm that’s stuck somewhere in my respiratory track occasionally causing me discomfort until I manage to wheeze and nudge it out of whatever crevice it’s stuck in.
The morning was surprisingly lighthearted given that a coworker had returned early from his trial period of working at a warehouse for a different kitting assignment. It had only been a couple of days, but he came back quite certain he would not be able to do the work that turned out to be overly menial and low skilled. So he contacted the boss to make clear that he wanted out of the assignment. No one looking to be a programmer wants to spend half a year putting together cardboard boxes, so I applaud his courage and decision to put his goals and ambitions first.
This makes me feel somewhat more uneasy about the kitting assignment I have lined up. I don’t have any reason to expect that it’ll be as stupid as having people who studied coding to do cardboard box assembly, but if it’s something I don’t think I can handle mentally in terms of what the actual job responsibilities are, I might throw in the towel. It’s not just the work, but the schedule (given that I’ll have to wake up early for a further commute and earlier starting time) I’ll have to adjust to.
Well, I’ll find out if it’s something I can do once I start. In the meantime, I’ll just enjoy my training assignment as much as I can as it’ll be hard to come by another chill workplace.
Thanks for reading!
