Aikido 5th Memorial Anniversary

Day 346 of writing every day.

Today marks the 5th anniversary of my Aikido sensei’s passing. Fortunately, there are still members who feel strongly enough to carry on with the special practice so that even as the years go by, we still take time to remember and recall what we learned from him and share what we felt was so phenomenal about him that we devoted so much time and effort to learning from him.

From my experience, I see that most people have little desire to seek self-improvement, and instead focus on self-indulgence. It doesn’t have to wait until adulthood for such things to happen. As a child, some people already started neglecting to do what they should be doing and use their energy to seek attention from others rather than focusing on themselves. This means trying to be popular, being addicted to social media, and a variety of other activities that most people agree to be unproductive.

As adults, most people I’ve met through work don’t seem to be driven to learn much less have a mentor they look up to. I’m glad that there are people at my dojo who share the same desire to improve as I do to an extent

Thanks for checking in!
