Day 349 of writing every day.
Until I get a pay raise, I’m going to do my best to limit my spending. If you’ve been following me, I might have mentioned before that I keep ending up with a lower salary every time I change jobs. It’s a frustrating situation, really. I believe my work experience is being undervalued and no one is willing to pay for soft human skills.
Another issue I find is that job postings demand both high skills and experience but never having a concrete description for how anyone is supposed to acquire them in the first place, is contradicting their expectations that workers have changed jobs only a limited number of times. If you’re asking someone to have a good skill set and experience, they’d have built it up elsewhere.
And if you’re asking what’s going to be keeping them at your company instead of leaving when it’s convenient, you should be asking yourself why aren’t you training them and providing them the experience in the first place as opposed to making listings that ask for people to leave or search for people who left their jobs in the first place because the reality is you can’t have previous work experience you take with you unless you leave a job.
Thanks for checking in!
