Days 363 of writing every day.
This weekend is the last monthly Aikido seminar my dojo is hosting this year. It’s been a year filled with a lot of learning and training. If there’s anything I would like to improve, it’s making time to review the books I have in possession to better solidify the knowledge left behind by the founder of the art and his direct students.
It’s not merely learning a set of techniques and becoming a master as so many people who treat budo as some kind of trade or a certification to be earned. It is an art that is practiced to better understand the self and how one is connected to something greater than the self.
I’m still considered young in the context of Aikido where some people are life long learners and others only start after nearing or entering retirement. While there’s no rush, the people still around I can look to for advice as my seniors and shihan I can learn from won’t be around forever. One day it’ll be me standing in their place if I don’t die unexpectedly or anything bad.
Thanks for checking in!
