A Brief Break

Day 114 of writing every day.

What was supposed to be my last lessons for the programming course ended up being pushed by at least a week. This doesn’t change my circumstances much as I don’t see myself as ready for a programming job with what I’ve learned.

But today felt like I finally had a free day to do nothing and just deflate in a good way. No getting up because I have to be somewhere in the morning. Nope. I just stayed home all day, cleaned the killifish pots out on the balcony, and gamed for a few hours. I was hoping to go out to Osaka castle park to view some cherry blossoms before they’re all gone, but I don’t know when my health insurance card might arrive. It didn’t come today, unfortunately I did update my resume which I did dust off when I decided to not renew my contract a couple months ago.

There wasn’t much to add or change besides the date, having left my job, and having taken a programming course. Now that I look at the resume, I feel like my last job didn’t really offer much of anything in terms of growth. All it did was lower my income, make playing games feel less enjoyable, and take away Aikido time. If anything, all I got to take away from the job was some translation experience, exposure to games I usually wouldn’t play, and the pleasure of meeting other Americans who share a passion for Japan and gaming.

Tomorrow is still going to be a laid back day but I’ll be pressing on towards my next professional goal. I have a zoom appointment with a headhunter, who I don’t think I’ll necessarily rely on to find a job, but nonetheless appreciate any information and advice they could provide.

After that appointment I’ll have myself a small break before logging on to a Google meets appointment with a sales representative for an online programming school that was in my radar for getting the skills and knowledge I’d need to switch to a career in IT.

Thanks for reading!
